I was inspired to develop this project because I started to crochet again during the COVID-19 pandemic. I learned techniques from online tutorials, but I was not able to attend crochet clubs at my local library because of lockdowns and closings. I wanted to be able to “share the love” through gathering together.

Introduction: CroCon is an event designed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. People taught themselves crochet during lockdown to keep busy.

Touchpoints: Moodboard, brand identity, crafting kit (bag, yarn label, instruction booklet)
Category: Brand identity and packaging design

There is an increasing community on Instagram and TikTok.

There is also a new interest in the process of making your own clothes.

Crafts in general increased in popularity throughout the COVID - 19 pandemic, and maintained popularity afterwards.

Many new crochet artists have learned the craft through tutorials and videos accessed online.

Crochet is a craft that cannot be manufactured, and this holds value to those who crochet as a hobby.

Problem:
People new to crochet do not have personal connections with others in the community.

Solution:
An in-person event that brings people who crochet closer to those doing the same crafts.
